Pete TakedaOn my first trip to the Cordillera Blanca I chose La Cima as my logistics agency. What made me choose La Cima for the next three trips was Chris Benway’s attention to detail and business ethics. He handled two more shoestring trips planned on cocktail napkins and a big-budget commercial expedition. Whatever the size, Chris always gives his personal best so we can find ours. An American expat, Chris understands our needs as climbers, trekkers and travelers to this mountain paradise. He helps navigate the potentially bewildering and time consuming journey from Lima, through Huaraz and to the mountains -- saving us precious time and money. Plus he has the best coffee in town... (Universally loved climber, author, raconteur)

Paul HauserChris Benway of La Cima Logistics did a fantastic job of organizing support for my recent circumnavigation hike of the Cordillera HuayHuash Mountains called the “Alpine Circuit”. All communications were clear and responsive. Chris speaks English and Spanish fluently which was a bonus given our limited Spanish. He arranged everything from providing transportation guidance from Lima to Huaraz, to cost effective yet very nice hotel accommodation in Huaraz, acclimation hikes above Huaraz requiring transportation, as well as transportation to and from the Alpine Circuit. Since I am of “advanced age” with bad knees, my partner (George Lowe) and I requested assistance with carrying 8 days of gear at altitude. La Cima provided two most excellent Peruvian gentleman (Freddie and Raul!) to assist us in this endeavor (If you want a guide, La Cima Logistics can provide that also). Everything went smoothly without a hitch. And, if you wish to lighten your travel load, Chris was well stocked with a variety of quality gear. I am currently planning with La Cima Logistics a return trip with my wife to do the “Alpamayo Circuit” with mule support in 2026. Chris Benway at La Cima Logistics will take care of you; I can highly recommend him.

Caroline GleichI worked with Chris Benway from La Cima Logistics to a ski mountaineering trip to the Cordillera Blanca in spring of 2015. Chris was easy to work with, leading up to the trip, he always responded promptly and thoroughly. I especially appreciated how he took the time to go over the budget in advance with openness and transparency. He went above and beyond the call of duty, even meeting us at the bus station when we arrived in Huaraz to assist with our luggage and make sure the transition went smoothly (I especially appreciated that, after traveling for so long to arrive in Peru). When we needed to reorganize some of the logistics mid-trip due to weather, he helped take the stress out of the decision-making. I can’t tell you how much it improved our trip to have Chris as a resource and a point person. He made us feel like we were family. It was very comforting to have his expertise and resources. Planning an international trip can be overwhelming, especially to a country like Peru. Having a local who knows the area adds so much to the experience. I highly recommend using La Cima Logistics to help make your trip more memorable and enjoyable.

SukShin YunWe enjoyed memorable lifetime experiences of 10 days on the Alpamayo circuit trek, in the Cordillera Blanca in 2022, and 11 days on the Huayhuash Circuit Trek, Cordillera Huayhuash, in 2024. We credit these amazing experiences to great support by La Cima Logistics. My group consisted of 6 enthusiastic senior-age hikers, friends since high school. We all appreciated very much Chris Benway’s logistical support for our planning and our travel in country and timely help in responding to an unexpected medical emergency situation. His guide, cooks and arrieros were all professional, friendly and hardworking. Everyone in our group was very happy and satisfied in interacting with them. From the planning stage to the end of our journey, everything was very smooth and well organized. I will definitely hire La Cima Logistics again for the next trekking trip to that area and recommend them to my friends.

Mary ChildressAs a field ecologist who has been conducting field research in Huascaran National Park since 2018, I have had the pleasure of working with La Cima Logistics for four terrifically successful scientific expeditions. Chris speaks fluent English and Spanish, making organization among travelers and locals seamless. He can organize all your travel details from the moment you arrive in Lima to your backcountry trek in the beautiful Andes. Nothing beats coming back to camp after a long day of data collection and finding yourself at a dining table in a heated tent with a freshly cooked Peruvian meal better than most of what is offered in Huaraz. Joel has been my cook for all four expeditions and his backcountry cooking is the best I have ever had. He also prepares a sack lunch each day and has boiled water at the ready whenever you need it. I can't recommend La Cima logistics enough, for any mountaineering or backcountry expedition whether it's scientific or recreational. I owe all of my logistical success to them, and plan on using them whenever I return for more field work!

As a middle-aged, casual mountaineer with a passion for exploring iconic peaks across the United States, Alaska, Peru, and Nepal, I’ve learned that every mountain range has its own character, vibe, and challenges. While I love discovering new terrains, my experiences in the Cordillera Blanca stand out as truly extraordinary—and much of that is thanks to Chris Benway and his incredible team at La Cima Logistics. Chris is a gem to work with. He’s transparent about pricing, offering flexible, à la carte options for logistics, which made planning a breeze. But what really sets him apart is how he goes beyond just the climbing logistics—he makes sure your off-mountain experience is just as fulfilling. Whether it’s a rewarding meal at basecamp or a seamless transition into the comforts of town, Chris ensures every detail is thought through. I’ve been lucky enough to embark on three trips with Chris and La Cima Logistics, and each one has left me with cherished memories. The absolute highlight? Chris himself. His kind, brotherly guidance and unwavering support make every journey feel personal and special. His guides and support staff are top-notch professionals who elevate the entire experience. And, of course, nothing beats wrapping up a climb with a debrief and a celebratory pisco sour at Café Andiño—an unbeatable tradition. If you’re looking for a mountaineering outfitter who is comprehensive, expert, and makes every step of the adventure fun, Chris and La Cima Logistics are it. From start to finish, they take care of you like family while ensuring your time in the mountains—and beyond—is unforgettable.

Tamara HoustonLogistics for my sola climbing trip to the Ishinca Valley, with objectives on three peaks (Urus, Ishinca, Tocllaraju) was professionally and attentively managed by Chris Benway/La Cima Logistics[. I am a return customer - this was the second time I have worked with Chris and his team. Chris is detail oriented, attentive, and will offer suggestions but does not have an upsell-mentality. Chris has been in Peru for three decades. He has good relationships with his subcontractors (guides, cooks, arreiros) and pays them well, which means that La Cima clients go to the field with reliable and outstanding support crews. Highly recommended!

Dylan CincottaMy climbing partner and I used La Cima Logistics to help organize and coordinate a self-guided climbing trip in the Cordillera Blanca. They were easy to work with and provided exceptional value for their service fees. In our case, we primarily wanted assistance with transportation to trailheads and burro support for approaches. However, if you are looking for full guided service, La Cima Logistics could organize this for you as well. Chris is a climber himself and very much understands the climber perspective and was able to give us lots of beta to help us decide which peaks and itinerary would be best for our experience level. Overall, I can't recommend La Cima Logistics highly enough. They were flexible and even able to coordinate transport/burros for a last minute pivot from Tocclaraju to Chopicalqui after we messaged from our Garmin InReach. Awesome to work with a company so engrained in the local climbing scene that understands the needs of DIY climbers on a budget. Ultimately they coordinated a taxi for us from the airport in Lima to the bus stop, bus tickets from Lima to Huaraz, a hostel in Huaraz, taxis to and from two different trailheads, as well as burro support for one of the approaches. Working with La Cima Logistics saved countless headaches that certainly would have delayed us once we arrived in Peru. This allowed us to get much more climbing done in our short two week trip. If you are planning a climbing trip to Peru you should reach out to La Cima Logistics. They have a track record working with the best in the business to weekend warrior chumps like myself and will be able to get you dialed in with exactly what you need.

Jenna CichanskiWe are a group of ladies who share a deep passion for exploring the remote mountain ranges of the world. We all live in Telluride, CO. This trip was a celebration of most of us turning 50 and 2 of us turning 55. It was a celebration of good friends spending time together in the mountains. A trek in the Huayhuash Range was just what we were looking for. A friend recommended La Cima Logistics, and we were so glad they did. From the start Chris felt like an old friend. The communication between us was great! We were a fairly challenging group when it came to food with practically everyone having some sort of dietary restriction. This was met with creativity and total acceptance. The food on the trip met our every need. All the gear they provided was either brand new or in new condition. Our guide and cooks and donkey drivers were simply wonderful. I miss them every day. I would definitely use La Cima again. In fact, I'm hoping to make another trip to Peru in the spring and will use their services again!!! I highly recommend them! GO!!
